Private View: 09 July 2004, 7.00-9.00 pm

The artists of Voice Imitator locate their practice at the point of collapse between mass and hand production. Through highly evolved styles, technique is ritualised and authorship questioned; producing a very particular, hand fashioned object - wipe-clean masterpieces, warm migraines and surrogate loves -. Through obsessive repetition the understanding of the artists’ role becomes eroded, perhaps diabolical. The artists’ desire to question the possibility of an authentic practice provokes an anxiety.... Is voice mere mimicry or does production inevitably lead to a neurotic series of banal fictions.

The gallery is open Thursday to Sunday 12 - 6pm or by appointment.
