SCD.008

Ian Mclean & Alex Ammar

07.05.99 - 30.05.99

Private View: 07 May 1999, 7.00-9.00 pm

Ian McLean and Alex Ammar’s test-reel SCD.008 is an estranged, voyeuristic dialogue. McLean’s cinematic images and Ammar’s delicate collage of voices stolen from air traffic control compound the sense of elsewhereness in this supposed desire for a coupling. Whilst imitating longing the slippage in scale in McLean’s paintings and its redundancy in Ammar’s exercise in pianissimo alludes to the pleasure of unrequitedness. Though traditional pastoral iconography prompt relations there is a conscious absence of infatuated impasto.

A beautiful if secluded muse upon modern desire.

A limited edition of 100 numbered CDs accompanies the installation.

The gallery is open Thursday to Sunday 12 - 6pm or by appointment.
