Working from memory is to pit oneself against a fact, an existing text, a lived experience, past or no longer present. What this act of translation/relation reveals is that the impossibility of accuracy, the imperfections, the fabrications, the lies and the embellished truths both compose and confound memory. The metaphors we use to describe remembering involve movement, a journey through... a flood of.... Memory is the fluid becoming of things which have already been.

The works in From Memory take as their source not an imagined event nor that which is to hand but that process of remembering and this is never the same twice.

The gallery is open Thursday to Sunday 12 - 6pm or by appointment.
