Nine thoughts about newBUILD...

1. Last night I switched on the television and watched a young man drinking a glass of coca-cola up his nose. He was followed by a man dressed as Dolly Parton (platinum wig, short skirt, cowboy boots) belting out Love Lifts Me Higher whilst someone else's hands holding melons (I presume) inside his tight, red sweater moved them frantically up and down, in time to the music and accompanied by hoots of canned laughter.

2. The Donald Judd installation at the Tate.

3. Euphoric dancing at the Zap club, Brighton,1991.

4. The Two House Builders (Luke 6.47-49) "So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on a rock. The rain poured down, the rivers overflowed, and the wind blew hard against the house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock. But anyone who hears these words of mine and doesn't obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers overflowed, the wind blew hard against that house, and it fell. And what a terrible fall that was!"

5. Los Angeles.

6. "As I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie theatre..."

7. Terror.

8. Lego Land.

9. Why do you want to fill the world with even more stuff? I'm not your fucking mother don't ask me to clear up your mess.
